Beneath the surface of Corio Bay lies one of the most quietly consequential ecosystems in Victoria. Seagrass meadows shelter fiddler rays and sea cucumbers, hold sediment in place, and draw down carbon at rates that outpace terrestrial forests. They form a key part of the global ‘blue carbon’ stores that are considered a key component in nature-based climate action.

Meditation on a Seagrass Meadow is a digital artwork that translates this ecology into moving light. Imagery gathered from the bay: diatoms, seagrass blades, sea cucumbers, fiddler rays — is dissolved into abstract particle systems, then driven by ecological data describing the bay's condition and recovery over the past 15 years.

As it shifts, drifts and evolves, it invites space for slow attention to the living water it represents.
